Fortunately, the default Maps app on iPhone comes with an option that lets users turn off voice directions.

How to Turn Off Voice Directions on Apple Maps
Spoken Directions is one of the coolest features on Apple Maps and there are multiple customizations available for users, including the ability to turn off voice, change voice or language, adjust volume, and more. Here are the steps to disable spoken directions on Apple Maps.
Note: The below steps are demonstrated using the Apple Maps app on iPhone 12 running on iOS 18 public beta 3. If you’re using the CarPlay, you can start from step 3.
Step 1: Open Apple Maps and Start Directions.
Step 2: Enter your destination and Tap Go.
Step 3: Tap the Speaker icon and Select the Mute icon. If you didn’t see these three icons on your screen, then you need to tap the arrow icon. If you’re using CarPlay, you can follow the same steps to mute the voice directions.
Change Other Settings for Spoken Directions on Apple Maps
Beyond just muting the voice, there are several other options available to make your navigation experience more personalized and comfortable. You can customize the Spoken Directions by navigating to Settings > Apps (on iOS 18) > Maps > Spoken Directions.
Voice Volume: By default, the voice volume is set to Normal, you can change it to a Softer tone or Louder tone as per your preference. (You can also change the volume settings from Route Options)
Directions Pause Spoken Audio: You can enable this setting to pause spoken audio like podcasts and audiobooks during spoken directions.
Directions Wake Device: This option will wake your iPhone’s display when you receive spoken directions.
Directions on Radio: While listening to your favorite radio channel, you will receive spoken directions. However, the feature works on select compatible cars.
