How to Enable and Use Live Translate on Samsung Galaxy Phones

Artificial Intelligence is currently the hottest topic of discussion in town. We’re witnessing AI technology embedded in almost every new smartphone and other smart devices. One of the most beloved things about the new Galaxy S24 phones is the Galaxy AI features. Samsung bundled the new S-series phones with a flurry of AI features.

Live Translate is a tremendously useful AI feature available on the Galaxy S24 series. It eliminates all language barriers during conversation, you can use it while making a call to someone who speaks a different language. Later, Samsung expanded the availability of the feature to more phones through the One UI 6.1 update.

Initially, the Galaxy AI features support 13 languages and 17 regions. The same can be said for Live Translate and these are the countries – Chinese Simplified, English (India, United Kingdom, United States), French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish (Mexico, Spain, United States), Thai, Vietnamese.

This week, Samsung confirmed the AI features will gain support for three more languages over Spring 2024, these languages are Australian English, Cantonese, and Canadian French.

How to Enable Live Translator on Galaxy Phones with One UI 6.1

Live Translate feature can be turned on easily on any Galaxy phone running on One UI 6.1. All you need is the Google Account and Samsung account logged in on your smartphone. If you already set up both accounts on your smartphone, follow these steps to turn on the Live Translate feature.

Step 1: Open Settings and tap Advanced Features.

Step 2: Select Advanced Intelligence.

Step 3: Tap Phone and turn the toggle on for Live Translate.

Step 4: Select your Language under the Me section and the other person’s language in the Other person section. (You may be prompted to download an additional language page, simply select the download option to install necessary add-ons)

How to Use Live Translate Feature

With the Live Translate feature activated on your smartphone, you can simply make a call to someone who speaks a different language. Here’s how you can use Live Translate feature.

Step 1: Open the Phone app and make a call to the person you want to speak to.

Step 2: When you make a call or when call comes, you will see the Call Assist option, tap on it.

Step 3: Select the Live Translate option, it instantly enables the feature and you will see the translations right on your screen.
